Day 7 : 9/27/01 

So, Washington must be a really nice state ... when it's not raining!

So I guess I'll never see Mt Rainier ever. We went to Mt St Helens today and were lucky enough not to have rain and we even had a square inch of blue sky before we left that made us think it could have been really beautiful.

We did a 5 1/2 hour / 15miles hike and tried to reach the bottom of the volcano. Unfortunatly it was really too far and we had to stop after 7.5 miles (12kms). We then still had to do them back and we started by going down....

Anyway, it was sooo cold and windy, we had to put all the warm clothes we had, I personnaly had gloves and 2 layers of winter stuffs on me.

It is really impressive to think how big the mountain was and what's reamining now! Maybe the places we went and where nature just seems to take over again were once big forests, who knows.. (well obviously people that where there 20 years ago!)

Tonight we are sleeping in the nice little town of Yakima,WA. One amazing thing is that when you go to the restaurant, you're asked if you want the smoking or non smoking section. We kind of forgot that living in california.
